             Central California Woodcarvers

Teaching the art of woodcarving since 1971

A Short History of Our Club

Central California Woodcarvers is made up of woodcarvers from throughout California, central to the Fresno Area. We were formed in 1971 by George Taylor. George hoped that by forming the group, we would be able to share skills, interests and knowledge, improving the works of all the members.

Certainly, we aspire to this goal.

Current Projects
We annually present a number of hand carved Eagle Head Canes for Veterans. Currently we are in partnership with the Sequoia Woodturners who are doing some wonderful workmanship on the cane shafts that are married with the carved eagle heads.
If you've heard about these fine canes are looking for one for yourself or a loved one, please contact Terry Tuite at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community living Center (Terence.Tuite@va.gov) for more information and to see if you qualify.

We are also in the process of restoring a 125 year-old carved tall ship model.

In addition, there are demonstrations, classes, and even one-on-one tutoring as needs and requests arise. From standard woodcarving of wood to golf balls to even the more exotic media and tools, there is the availability to learn and grow in one's skills.
