Club News

From our worry free reporter Alfred

Well, if you missed the last meeting you missed a good one. It was our summer lunch and birthday party for Jack Lloyd. Jack turned 92 this year. We might have had around 30 people for the meeting, but we had over 70 for the party. Jack can still bring them in. Jack's son and his group put on a great show for his dad. The name of his group is “We don’t have a name.” Strange, because if that's their name then they do have a name. I smell contradiction! After they stopped for lunch Greg Vlastelica took over and gave us his always great and energetic show.

As for the meeting Jim Hickey gave us the same old lines about the fair is coming up and everyone needs to participate. So if you want to have your work displayed at our booth start bringing in your carvings. Also check your calendar so you can sign up to man (or woman) the booth. The fair runs from October 1st to the 13th. The wood carving contest will be on October 4th at 3:30 PM. You need to sign up at the meeting on Saturday or on line. The contest is free and loads of fun. You have to enter by September 6th this Saturday. Jim will have the forms and will take them to the fair after the meeting.

As for Show and Tell - Dick Nelson showed his root clock and pen holder. Lance Leitch his Cowboy, and Lloyd Moore had an eagle cane that he presented to our President.

If you can’t get to the meeting and want to be in the woodcarving contest call Jim before Saturday so he can fill out a form for you, his number is (559) 230-2695.

A special thanks to Roy Smith for taking the pictures, our club photographer was absent. (Apparently he felt celebrating his wife's birthday was more important.)

Since I sit in the back I don’t always hear everything and Jim puts me to sleep but I think all this information is correct. Hope to see everyone at the meeting.
